Allies:The Art of Betrayal

Can you find the strategy that breaks Allies?

Allies is a Risk-inspired strategy game exploring a question: how do you get someone who wants to beat you to help you?

I’m building it with points that reward action and a resource called Prestige that changes how you build—and spend—your military strength. Now I need players to challenge my assumptions and discover what I’ve missed.

How much power
do you spend now?

Exchange Prestige for troops, or hold onto it to boost how many troops you can gain. Spend heavily for a decisive push—but leave yourself too little, and you may struggle to fight back.

The strongest army on the board isn’t always the greatest threat. An opponent with Prestige in reserve may have far more power than their territories suggest.

Troops now. Power in reserve. An Opportunist with 25 troops and 25 Prestige can gain 25 recruits. A Warlord with 5 troops and 100 Prestige at a ×4 multiplier can gain 400 recruits, then drops to 0 Prestige and Opportunist ×1.

Can you get your rivals to help you?

A growing lead can become a runaway advantage. Can you stop the leader alone? Can you give another player a reason to help? With limited communication, your moves and signals become part of the strategy.

My bet is that these pressures will make cooperation matter, even between rivals. I need real games to find out whether that holds up.

Find your strategy against AI

You don’t need to organize a multiplayer match to get started. Play locally against AI opponents at your own pace, explore Prestige, and experiment with different strategies.

The AIs won’t respond to persuasion, but they give you room to learn the mechanics. When you find an approach that works, bring it to a human match.
